چکیده

A new method for the automated generation of eecient meshings for the nite element method (FEM) is presented and applied to a general problem from the eld of computer graphics | radiosity. Radiosity designates a class of algorithms which calculate the global ow of light in a virtual three-dimensional environment. The representation of radiosity computed by using an FEM approach can be regarded as a mesh of reference transfer rays. This representation must be as compact as possible due to the huge geometries demanded in todays applications. To obtain this compactness, in this work, the generation of the meshing is accomplished using the incremental supervised growing cell structures approach (ISGCS). It creates a neural network with a very eecient internal representation which is interpreted and utilized directly as radiosity FEM meshing.

A finite-element mesh generator based on growing neural networks

A mesh generator for the production of high-quality finite-element meshes is being proposed. The mesh generator uses an artificial neural network, which grows during the training process in order to adapt itself to a prespecified probability distribution. The initial mesh is a constrained Delaunay triangulation of the domain to be triangulated. Two new algorithms to accelerate the location of t...

A two dimensional Simulation of crack propagation using Adaptive Finite Element Analysis

Finite element method (FEM) is one of the most famous methods which has many applications in varies studies such as the study of crack propagation in engineering structures. However, unless extremely fine meshes are employed, problem arises in accurately modelling the singular stress field in the singular element area around the crack tip. In the present study, the crack growth simulation has b...

Fast Finite Element Method Using Multi-Step Mesh Process

This paper introduces a new method for accelerating current sluggish FEM and improving memory demand in FEM problems with high node resolution or bulky structures. Like most of the numerical methods, FEM results to a matrix equation which normally has huge dimension. Breaking the main matrix equation into several smaller size matrices, the solving procedure can be accelerated. For implementing ...

Prediction of Service Life in Concrete Structures based on Diffusion Model in a Marine Environment using Mesh Free, FEM and FDM Approaches

Chloride-induced corrosion is a key factor in the premature corrosion of concrete structures exposed to a marine environment. Fick's second law of diffusion is the dominant equation to model diffusion of chloride ions. This equation is traditionally solved by Finite Element Method (FEM) and Finite Difference Method (FDM). Although these methods are robust and efficient, they may face some numer...
